Leong Yet Pin, a retired Geography teacher from SM Sentosa in Kampar, has turned her passion for the environment into action. After 25 years in education, she founded KampaRefill, the area's inaugural zero-waste store, in 2021.

Leong's mission with KampaRefill is to challenge the misconception that zero-waste products come with a hefty price tag.
"Many are concerned about the cost of living sustainably," she notes. Her store aims to debunk this notion by offering affordable, eco-friendly alternatives, making it easier for the community to reduce waste without incurring high expenses.

"Awareness through education is key," Leong emphasizes. "We provide a refill service that is not only budget-friendly but also encourages a sustainable lifestyle. It's a new concept here, and it will take time to become ingrained, but I'm in it for the long haul."
KampaRefill's affordability is evident in its pricing; for instance, a kilogram of dishwashing soap is priced at just RM4. As of October 7, 2023, the store has recycled 1,311 plastic bottles, demonstrating a commitment to reducing waste and promoting environmental consciousness in Kampar.
Leong's patient approach and dedication to her cause are paving the way for a greener future, one refill at a time.
